Kristian Campbell has second base to himself for a while
The Red Sox continued to lock down core pieces on Wednesday.
Boston announced it signed infielder/outfielder Kristian Campbell to an eight-year contract extension that spans the 2025-2032 seasons, with club options for 2033 and 2034.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan provided some key details, reporting that the deal is worth $60 million throughout the first eight seasons. MassLive’s Chris Cotillo confirmed that number, adding that the two option years are for $19 million in 2033 and $21 million in 2034.
It’s essentially a 10-year, $100 million deal if he plays it through 2034.
Campbell obviously hasn’t been around very long, just making his debut on March 27 against the Texas Rangers. The Red Sox like what they’ve seen thus far, and can now expect him to be a fixture in the lineup moving forward.
What do we think, folks? Do you like the deal?
