Much like it was only a matter of time before Rafael Devers broke through, Alex Bregman was bound to hit his first Red Sox home run sooner rather than later.
Well, the waiting game for the highly anticipated round-tripper finally came to an end Thursday afternoon.
Bregman launched his first longball in a Boston uniform in the first inning of his team’s series finale in Baltimore. Charlie Morton left a first-pitch sinker right over the heart of the plate, and the star third baseman made the Orioles starter pay by sending the baseball 397 feet into the left-field seats. The homer also plated Devers, who reached base via walk.

Don’t be surprised if the two-time World Series champion goes on a run of homers. After seven straight road games to kick off the campaign, the Red Sox on Friday will embark on a seven-game stretch at Fenway Park, where Bregman has outstanding career numbers.
