The Red Sox are in Pittsburgh, and on Friday night, they’ll begin the first of three games with the upstart Pirates.
A trip to Pittsburgh also means a trip to the home of rapper Wiz Khalifa. One of his claims to fame is the earworm track “Black and Yellow,” done as an homage to Pittsburgh’s pro sports teams — the Pirates, Steelers and Penguins — teams that all share the colors black and yellow, or variations of them.
However, it was “Black and Yellow” that the Stanley Cup champion Bruins adopted during their playoff run as one of their anthems. Not long after, plenty of “Black and Yellow” remixes started popping up all over YouTube with Bruins highlights over the song.
The “Black and Yellow” craze hit its apex at the Bruins’ championship parade where Brad Marchand did his best Wiz Khalifa impression grabbing the microphone from “liney” Patrice Bergeron and belting out a couple of lines to the song.
