Patrick Reed rocketed to the top of the FedEx Cup standings after hanging on for a victory at The Barclays, but he still sits back of the favorites on the odds to win the Deutsche Bank Championship at +2200 at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Reed survived a final-round charge from Sean O’Hair at The Barclays, eking out a slim one-stroke victory despite bogeying two of the final three holes. That earned him a whopping 2,000 points to grab a 380-point lead over Jason Day heading into the second leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs this week.

Day finished in a three-way tie for fourth place at The Barclays, but enters Friday’s opening round of the Deutsche Bank Championship at TPC Boston well ahead of the pack on the golf betting lines as a strong +650 favorite.

The 28-year-old Australian failed to claim a major victory this season, but he remains atop the Official World Golf Ranking with three victories and has finished in the top 10 in nine of his past 13 outings.

However, Day has struggled at the Deutsche Bank Championship since claiming third place at the event in 2011, finishing in the top 10 just once since and settling for a share of 12th place a year ago.

U.S. Open champion Dustin Johnson trails Day at +1000 on the Deutsche Bank Championship odds. Johnson followed up his U.S. Open win with a victory at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational, and sits third in the FedEx Cup standings. Ranked No. 2 in the world, Johnson also owns a pair of top-five finishes at the tournament.

Jordan Spieth closely follows at +1200, where he is joined by Rory McIlroy, who dropped to No. 5 in the world rankings after missing the cut at the PGA Championship. Olympic silver medalist and British Open winner Henrik Stenson rounds out the front of the pack at +1600 odds.

Defending champion Rickie Fowler has a lot to prove this weekend after squandering the lead at The Barclays with a final-round meltdown that also cost him an automatic spot on the United States Ryder Cup team. Fowler’s 39 on the back nine forced him to settle for a seventh-place tie at The Barclays, and he is pegged as a +2000 bet this weekend.

Adam Scott joins Reed at +2200, ahead of Olympic champion Justin Rose at +2500, and a trio of veterans at +3300, including Bubba Watson, Phil Mickelson and Sergio Garcia.
