Fantasy Football Week 7 Starts, Sits: Settling Toughest Lineup Decisions

It’s now or never for a lot of fantasy football owners whose playoff chances will be greatly impacted by what happens in their Week 7 matchup.

Luckily for those people, we’re here to help. Here’s our start/sit advice for Week 7.

STARTS
Case Keenum, QB, Los Angeles Rams
Keenum threw for 321 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in a Week 6 loss, and he has three straight games of 260 or more passing yards. He also has a favorable Week 7 matchup against a New York Giants pass defense that’s forced just two interceptions.

Marcus Mariota, QB, Tennessee Titans
Mariota is rewarding fantasy owners who have been patient with him after a slow first month of the season. He’s thrown six touchdown passes with only one interception over his last two games in addition to totaling 60-plus rushing yards in each of those matchups.

The former No. 2 overall draft pick also has a quality matchup against a Colts defense allowing the eighth-most yards per pass attempt (8.0) and 4.8 yards per carry.

Spencer Ware and Jamaal Charles, RB, Kansas City Chiefs
If you were a Charles owner who picked up Ware for injury protection, start both of them this week. Ware ran for 131 yards and a touchdown against the Oakland Raiders last week, and Charles had 47 total yards and a touchdown. Their Week 7 matchup against a New Orleans Saints defense allowing 4.3 yards per carry and a league-high 11 rushing touchdowns is a favorable one.

Brandon LaFell, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
The chemistry between LaFell and Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton is good enough where fantasy owners can depend on the veteran wideout. LaFell is the No. 2 receiver in this offense, and he’s caught three touchdown passes over the last two games. He also receives plenty of 1-on-1 coverage because of all the attention opposing defenses pay to superstar receiver A.J. Green.

SITS
Landry Jones, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Jones won’t have running back DeAngelo Williams and the Patriots have done a great job of preventing elite receivers from beating them, so Antonio Brown might not have his usual monster fantasy performance. Last season, Jones completed just 58.2 percent of his passes with three touchdowns and four interceptions as a starter.

Ryan Mathews, RB, Philadelphia Eagles
Mathews has averaged less than 33 rushing yards over the last three games, and he’s also scored zero touchdowns in that time. He has a tough Week 7 matchup against a Minnesota Vikings defense allowing just 3.7 yards per carry and only three rushing touchdowns overall.

Torrey Smith, WR, San Francisco 49ers
Don’t be fooled by Smith’s 76 yards and a touchdown in Week 6. His 53-yard score came on blown coverage by the Buffalo Bills secondary. Smith still doesn’t have more than three receptions in any game this season. He’s not a smart start this week.

Quincy Enunwa, WR, New York Jets
Enunwa hasn’t scored a touchdown since Week 1, and he’s caught more than four passes only once in the last four games. He also has zero 100-yard games. Enunwa hasn’t been productive nor consistent enough to start this week, and making matters worse is Geno Smith starting at quarterback for the Jets. Smith isn’t a quality QB.

Zach Ertz, TE, Philadelphia Eagles
Ertz has tallied just four receptions and 59 receiving yards over the last two games, and his tough matchup against the Vikings on Sunday doesn’t give us much hope that his struggles will end anytime soon.
